Riding the cylinder – a photograph exposition by Stefan Rousseau



For more than 20 years as a picture taker I have driven into focal London via vehicle, encountering a surge hour of mysterious, passive drivers covered up in their versatile steel boxes with no association other than through signals of horns and the blazing of headlights. All the more as of late I've been leaving my vehicle at home and have joined the brokers and the developers, the day trippers and the vacationers on the London Underground for a snappier, less upsetting voyage into work.

All of a sudden I ended up mindful of another universe of telephone fixated, restless, cosmetics employing suburbanites so consumed in their very own reality that I believed I needed to photo them. The initial couple of trains of the morning are full and practically difficult to jump on. They are developers and office cleaners, most wearing pants and hoodies and generally sleeping. There's then a concise respite before the brokers and office specialists in their costly suits and iPad-downloaded papers drive themselves into stuffed trains.

Each line has its own one of a kind character. The courses I use incorporate the Jubilee line which has the monetary laborers of Canary Wharf, the District line which has government officials and sightseers going to Westminster, and the Central line which has brokers and shop specialists on their approach to Oxford Street. After 9.30am the third surge hour of the morning starts and the trains are loaded up with day trippers and touring voyagers visiting the capital's attractions, and the temperament unwinds.

Capturing in such kept spaces brings its own difficulties. It's troublesome not to be seen and I've observed Londoners to be a bashful animal groups. In case I'm seen raising my camera, in the flicker of a screen the subject for the most part dismisses and the minute is no more. All the more regularly, however, they are so lost in their very own universes that relatively few ever spot me and I'm ready to catch the essences of the capital's explorers, dependably in high contrast so the splendid shades of the train insides don't divert from the exceedingly expressive faces around me. https://www.3dartistonline.com/user/btodo
